SEO Dojo Radio format changes 2011

Hello and welcome to 2011 my friend. Things went really well for our little podcast (SEO Dojo Radio) during 2010. We're equally shocked and thrilled that so many folks enjoyed the offering. We were also stoked about the many guests that came on including;

  • Debra Mastaler
  • Jill Whalen
  • Barry Schwartz
  • Virginia Nussey
  • Richard Baxter
  • Brian Carter
  • Nichola Stott
  • Barry Adams
  • Darren Shaw
  • Dana Lookadoo
  • Wordstream (Tom & Ken)
  • Joe Hall
  • Dom Hodgson
  • Brian Wallace

It has been a pleasure sharing the search obsession with our guests and you the listener (all 10 of ya!). You can now find a complete downloadable archive here.

New Format for 2011

Originally the show was 1hr. We'd have the regulators (where's Billy the Kid?) that would do a 1/2hr stint and then we'd have a guest on for the last 1/2. Ultimately both portions of the show would run long and we'd end up near the 1.5hr mark more often than not. So, what's a geek to do? Easy... have two shows!

Yup, we're going to start breaking the show into two parts;

Search Geeks Speak

This new show (on Monday each week) will be the one with various guests joining us to talk shop. Some of them will be theme'd panels, others just a single guest whome we wanted to get to know more or share their insights with you. To get an idea, here's some shows we have lined up in the near future;

  • Danny Sullivan - talking Sphinn, publishing and state of search.
  • Local search panel - with Mike Blumenthal, Darren Shaw and Andrew Shotland
  • Link Building Panel - with Debra Mastaler, Wil Reynolds and Garrett French
  • Andy Beard - man of many talents. Who knows where it will lead.
  • Richard Baxter and Gabriella Sannino - the great KW tool debate!

And many more... We truly believe that breaking out the guests into it's own show, it should be amazing.

The Regulators

And of course we're not going anywhere. Each week the cast of regulars (with guests now and then) will be dishing out the usual brand of rant-torials that is rarely dull. This show will air on Thursdays as usual and we'll be talking about all the news of interest from the search and social space.

We do hope that this new format will make things more digestible and less of a strain on your valuable time. It does mean a little more work for yours truly (sigh) but hey, you're worth it!

All the best for 2011!

New Dojo Banners and Badges

the SOSG Badge has returned

Get your goodies and show your colours!

Some of you have been asking me about a replacement for the ever popular SOSG badges (Seriously Obsessed Search Geek). At teh same time (Herr Director) Terry was asking for some logo's for promotional work. Dammit! Can't a fella ever rest? Suppose not, huh?

And so I set about creating them to keep all involved appeased. Now we certainly have a wide variety available for any of you to use on the your sites or as you see fit (print onto sticky paper and paste it on yer computer for all I care).

Learning and teaching; with a little help from my friends

I was sitting here working on the Dojo Radio editing and started to realize that I've been blessed over the last while. When this place started I thought it would entail many hours in the trenches passing along the art. Trust me. No one likes to teach the basic stances and footwork day after day. It dulls the enthusiasm.

The great part is that it didn't work out that way. On the main blog is the concept of being a teacher AND a student at all times. This puts the ego at rest and encourages engagement in some shape or form from the clan. At least that's the hope.

SEO Chat with Dan Thies

Hello my fellow search warriors and uber geeks... I have some GREAT news. This week for the SEO Dojo Chat session, on keyword research, (Friday August 3rd) we managed to snag the one and only Dan Thies. I had polled the twitterverse and asked whom would be the best guest for the topic. You spoke, we listened and Dan was nice enough to agree to come join us on short notice.

Keyword research with Dan Thies

For those that don't know Dan, (what world are you living on?) he's one of the braind behind Link Liberation, StomperNet and much more. He's a bad ass with KW research (organic and paid) and will no doubt have a LOT to teach us all. We also asked the WordStream guys to pop by, they happen to know a thing or two about KW research as well.

Not a member yet? WOW. What are you waiting for? We keep a transcript of ALL the chats on the forum. Join NOW
